The first Knotts Shoes store opened in 1951 in a downtown Louisville doctor's office building. Founder, Carlton Knotts, saw his store as serving a niche of people who wanted comfortable shoes that fit properly. In fact, many long-time customers were originally referred to Knotts Shoes by physicians.
Today we still pursue that mission of offering high-quality footwear that fits comfortably. Most of the shoes we sell are European-crafted with leather soles and uppers.
